Target Primary Energy Rate
Approved document L, Conservation of Fuel and Power, Volume 2: Buildings other than dwellings, 2021 edition incorporating 2023 amendments, defines target primary energy rate as: ‘The maximum primary energy use for the building in a year, expressed as kWhPE/(m2.year).’
Part L 2021 Where to start, A guide for housebuilders and their advisors, Masonry construction, published by the Future Homes Hub in June 2022,defines the Target Primary Energy Rate (TPER) as an: ‘Additional compliance metric added for 2021, the target primary energy rate as calculated by SAP for a particular home and is expressed as kWhPE/(m².yr). The calculation is based on a notional dwelling... (etc, as per TFEE & TER).’
